This name, recently adopted in 2023, formalizes a long-standing collaboration at Pors Carn between Kevin, Stephen, and Mathieu, which began in 2009 with the creation of the "Pors Carn Surf School."
"B.Brother" is also a celebration of the brotherly bonds that unite surfers. Since its inception and wherever it is practiced around the world, surfing has given rise to tight-knit, territorial communities. Shared sessions and the feeling experienced—what surfers call the "stoke"—are the driving force behind the formation of groups and the essence of this "sport lifestyle." The name B.Brother reflects the closeness that surfers feel toward one another across the globe and the sense of belonging to a shared culture.
The joy of gliding on waves is within everyone's reach! The immediate happiness felt when connecting with the waves and their energy quickly replaces any apprehensions or hesitations, turning into a recurring desire. B.Brother—which can also be interpreted as an urging, "Be a Brother"—primarily carries this invitation to experience surfing and join a global sporting phenomenon that today counts millions of enthusiasts.
PIONEERS AT PORS CARN
In 2009, the first structure dedicated to surf instruction at Pors Carn was created by Kevin and Stephen.
“La Torche was already very well-known when we started here in 2009, while the reputation of the neighboring beach, Pors Carn, was still in the making.” – Stephen.
“Today, the potential of Pors Carn for learning to surf is widely recognized, and the spot is highly sought after.” – Kevin.
In 2013, the surf school expanded. The new structure was established at 171 Rue du Musée de la Préhistoire in Penmarc’h.
Between 2015 and 2018, collaborations took place with INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance) in Paris. Surfing at Pors Carn became part of the training program for high-level athletes during their Olympic preparation.
In 2023, the company underwent another legal status change. The name "B.Brother" was adopted by Kevin and Stephen.
EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS
Passionate surfers since the early 1990s at La Torche and Pors Carn, Kevin and Stephen became surf instructors in 2005. After honing their skills on the beaches of southwestern France, they returned to their “home spot” to start their business. They are the pioneers of surf instruction at Pors Carn, founding the “Pors Carn Surf School” in 2009. Together, they bring over thirty years of experience in teaching their sport.
In 2024, Francis joins the team. Employed by the Brittany Surf League year-round and serving as a technical advisor in connection with the "pôle espoir" structures, Francis balances this federal commitment with teaching his sport at "B.Brother - Surf School.
All three are natives of the Pays Bigouden region and now live there for a significant part of the year. Each of them maintains strong ties to their favorite surf spot and showcases different ways to stay connected to the lifestyle associated with surfing.
